Information for international applicants

• Courses at PESM Bourgogne

PESM Bourgogne is one of the 11 musical institutes and conservatoires in France proposing a first cycle bachelor course in instrumental and vocal music.

Classes, ensemble work and individual tuition are organised with the support of Université de Bourgogne and the regional conservatoires of Dijon and Chalon-sur-Saône, the two main towns of Bourgogne. PESM Bourgogne provides courses for performers and for instrumental and vocal teachers.

As well as looking for the best individual practice, courses in PESM Bourgogne focus on group and ensemble work, avant-garde music, musical theatre and instrumental and vocal pedagogy.

Courses are provided in classical instrumental studies and in pop and jazz studies. Further student exchanges will be possible from 2012-13 on the singing and choir conducting courses.

Classes take place in Dijon for instrumentalists, singers and vocal conductors. Classes take place in both Dijon and Chalon-sur-Saône for pop and jazz musicians and singers.

Training in PESM Bourgogne leads to :

  • the joint bachelor degree : diplôme national supérieur professionnel de musicien/licence de musique
  • the instrumental and vocal teachers diploma : diplôme d’Etat de professeur de musique.

Total number of students is growing from 85 in September 2010 to 140 in September 2012.  This small number of students makes individual tutorship possible.  It enables as well a true group spirit to develop, which we feel is essential for chamber music and collective music making.

It is possible for non-French talking students to take French language classes at Université de Bourgogne.
